It has been a privilege to be a part of a growing profession over the past 31 years. GAPA continues to be an organization that is well regarded by PA leaders nationally as it is aware of the need for growth, self-examination and change which benefits its members. There exists a depth of experience and "how-to" knowledge among its members that will propel it forward if effectively utilized.
Public awareness campaigns, continued membership growth, specialty recognition without hampering the underlying generalist mobility and the inevitable health care system change that will come from upcoming national political initiatives are issues our organization and its members will respond to.
If we can but find the "common ground" that binds us together as a group and profession and assume a stance of inclusion, the future is ours.
It would be a privilege to succeed Tina Hood.

I was a National Health Service Corps Scholar, and currently serve on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Association of Physician Assistants. I am actively involved with my local church, and serve as a guest services coordinator.
Platform Data:
There are three major issues currently facing the PA profession in Georgia. First is membership to GAPA, of which GAPAs current campaign is strong, and I would assist by taking this on as a grass roots campaign. Second is continual representation to the state legislature for upcoming bills that might have effect on regulation of PA practice, of which the JAC, LGA, and the professional liaison are helpful on, and I would assist by networking with current legislators and State Medical Board members to that advantage. Third is continual strong representation to the national level. This gives Georgia PAs a voice in the way things are done in other states. GAPAs current approach of having good representation nationally, a strong core membership, and the solid foundation that our management group has helped us build, has led us to already be that, and I will personally strive to continue that excellence.

Last year in my platform statement for secretary, I said the same things that I feel strongly about to this day.
My hope is that the PA profession in Georgia will continue its successful and steady growth. With a fourth PA program in our state beginning, our profession will be well represented and strong with the fresh ideas and enthusiasm of these students and future PAs.
The current GAPA leadership is well aware of the need for continued growth, with reliance on the strength of those who led before us. Our greatest challenge will be to continue this steady course, and to keep the momentum going.
My work with students and my history with GAPA will give me the ability to continue to contribute to an organization that represents us all. GAPA is our group, and it is what we make of it. Let's continue to make it great.

Platform Data:
GAPA started shaping and forming me into the PA that I am today when I was introduced to our association in school. Sticking together as one voice, I believe will help us achieve all goals pertinent to OUR PROFESSION and beyond. GAPA has given me a chance to utilize my leadership skills and I hope to continue expanding my leadership role by educating the world on who we are. My current job has also helped define my role as a leader, for example I have been to several conferences with several physicians present and I was the only PA present; trust me this helps you build confidence quickly. The issues that I believe we are going to have to hold confident in is our role as defined by our job description as PAs and the supervision that is required, being able to prescribe for schedule II medications, reimbursement for our procedures and services and our continuing efforts to educate the world who we are, our purpose, and our capabilities. I
look forward to being a part of the GAPA Leadership Team for many years to come.

Being a newly graduated PA-C offers the ability to bring new and fresh ideas to the table on such pertinent and current issues as Medicare provisions, reimbursement monitoring, DEA registrations, Title VII funding, Dermatological outlines, etc. As a highly determined and devoted PA-C, I advocate awareness for all current PAs practicing in the state of Georgia, both through my position as GAPA Membership Co-Chair as well as through my daily interactions with fellow
PAs. I likewise reach out to the future fellows of GAPA by encouraging PA students in Georgia to join the GAPA organization, actively participate in the meetings, and prepare to enter GAPA as my colleagues and fellow PA advocators. Thus, being slightly "green" in the field brings the opportunity to unite generations of PAs in the common cause of continuously improving GAPA to be the best state PA organization in the nation.

Although the PA profession has made major stride of the past several years, we will always have hurtles and high points . I believe being part of the board will allow me to help the profession in its ongoing challenges and accomplishments. Some of these include ongoing education of medical professions, the legislatures, and the public at large. And keeping PAs current on our own rules and regulations. I would address this by continuing to be an active voice in my
community and promoting the PA profession at my place of employment. I am currently the only PA at my office which has been a huge opportunity for me to educate.
Being involved since the student level has helped me appreciate how much the state organization does for our profession. I would like to continue this involvement on the board level. The students and new graduates are of particular interest to me. I would like to help expand GAPA's involvement at the PA programs.
Thank you for this opportunity.

Our profession continues to struggle with the direction our corporate future takes us. Degrees, specialization versus generalization, and competition with other non-physician providers continue to be signficant issues. Managing these challenges takes both an eye toward our heritage and historic missions, but also a view of the future and a willingness to listen to options.
My years at the Emory PA Program have given me experience in a variety of roles - teaching, administrative, technologic - while I have maintained part-time clinical practice. Working with students, precepting PAs and MDs, and other faculty, I've
learned skills of sorting through key points in arguments, and finding workable solutions for various parties. These are skills that will be useful in the HOD.

Platform Data:
The issues facing the profession on the national level are increasingly complex. The decisions made in the HOD can have significant impact on the profession. I have the experience needed to fully evaluate the issues that come before the House. It would be an honor to once again represent the GAPA.
