Advanced Cardiac Life Support Re-Certification
This course is for participants with a current ACLS course card. This course will cover the skills and didactic information necessary to treat a cardiac arrest patient. Participants who successfully complete this class will receive their ACLS course completion card. Please bring copy of current card. This class will be a minimum of 4 hours up to 8 hours depending on the needs of the students. Wed., 1:30 - 5:30 p.m.

Basic Dermatology Procedures & Management of Common Skin Lesions
Provide a broader range of services to your patients by learning basic dermatology procedures! This hands-on workshop will provide an opportunity to learn basic skin procedures and treatment options for common skin lesions. This workshop is rapidly becoming one of our most popular. Tues., 1:45 - 3:45 pm and Wed., 10 am - 12 pm

Casting & Splinting Techniques for the Non-Orthopedist
Have you always wanted to have the ability and knowledge to apply some of your own casts and splints for common orthopedic injuries? Have you just never been able to take the time to review/learn these techniques? Now is your chance. This workshop is designed to cover the basics of casting and splinting for common orthopedic injuries. This hands-on session will cover application of both fiberglass and plaster for fabrication of sugar tong, ulnar gutter and thumb spica splints as well as cylindrical casting for both upper and lower extremity injuries. Participants are advised to wear shorts and t-shirts. Fri., 10 am– 12 pm

Chest X-rays For Dummies
(Everything you always wanted to know about a CXR, but were afraid to ask) This hands-on workshop will provide you with the tools necessary for interpreting CXRs in a primary care setting. Review radiographic images along with a brief case study, and expand your knowledge of reviewing CXRs and making the appropriate diagnosis. Wed., 10 am - 12 pm

Documentation & Coding Series: A Few Things To Think About!
Documentation
It is unfortunate that you will not be reimbursed for the services you provide. You will only be reimbursed for the services you "document". This workshop will help you re-evaluate your documentation skills by providing a better understanding of CPT guidelines for Evaluation and Management Services. This workshop will bring your documentation skills up to date. Mon., 12 – 2 pm

Coding
Are you confident with your coding skills? Are you sure? With so many coding guidelines to remember, just when you think you´ve got it figured out, something changes. This coding workshop will help you to turn coding rules into coding tools to help you achieve: better patient care, better utilization of time, be audit proof, and obtain better reimbursement. Mon., 2:30 – 4:30 pm

EKG Made Easy: 12 Lead Interpretation
Sharpen your 12 lead EKG interpretation skills. Pearls of wisdom along with basic EKG understanding, axis at a glance, ischemia vs infarct vs injury, arrhythmias, and much more will enable you to walk away from this workshop much more confident in your EKG abilities. Wed., 1:30 - 3:30 pm

This workshop is designed to provide an advanced review of EKG interpretation with case histories and identification of actual rhythm strips. Enhance your practice with improved skills in key content areas of EKG interpretation. Wed., 3:45 - 5:45 pm

Eye Exam & Slit Lamp
Sharpen your skills and finally master that mysterious slit lamp exam. This lecture workshop on the examination of the eye will instruct you in the correct examination of the eye utilizing the ophthalmoscope and slit lamp. Hands on practice with the slit lamp will be provided. The all-important basic eye exam and eye pathology will be covered. What should you see with the Wood´s lamp? How do you flip an eyelid? Is it an abrasion or an ulcer? What constitutes an ophthalmic emergency? Attend this workshop to better understand these and many more eye-related topics. Wed., 7 - 9 am

Imaging of the Spine with X-ray and MRI
Oh, my aching back!" This workshop is designed to provide the participant with the indications for ordering both plain film and MRI, and the ability to screen for common pathology. Learn the fundamentals of spinal radiographic anatomy and the radiographic presentation of spinal pathology. Correlation with case studies of common and uncommon spinal problems with their radiographic findings will provide the participant with the knowledge base to recognize and manage the most common orthopedic complaint to the primary care office…back pain. Thurs., 10 am - 12 pm

Joint Injections & Aspirations
This workshop will provide the attendees with guidelines for common methods and materials, patient preparation, equipment needed, procedures, follow up, pitfalls and complications for the knee, shoulder and other common joint injections and aspirations. This is your opportunity to become more comfortable with these common procedures under the guidance of a skilled orthopedic physician assistant. Fri., 7 - 9 am

Making Sense of Heart Sounds
This workshop will provide a review of the physiological basis of heart sounds, provide additional clues and assessment techniques to achieve a differential diagnosis of the etiology of abnormal heart sounds, and will allow the participant to practice their skills in the interpretation of simulated heart sounds using musical instruments and a heart sounds simulator. Stethoscopes are not needed to fully participate in this workshop. By the end of the workshop, the participant should be able to answer written exam questions about the cause and characteristics of heart sounds given the patient's history and physical exam findings, and to achieve a diagnosis of the heart valve involved and probable abnormality based on the auscultation and interpretation of heart sounds. Fri., 10 am – 12 pm

Mini Trauma Life Support
This workshop is designed to prepare the participant to respond to the trauma patient. The material presented will be based on the basic concepts of the American College of Surgeons Advanced Trauma Life Support. There will be lectures on the basic concepts, discussion of emergency equipment needs and then case studies. After a short break students will be divided into small groups who will rotate through a serious of disaster makeup "victims" and case studies. Working together, the students in these groups will evaluate and direct treatment for these victims. This will be a fast paced and very informative workshop limited to 12. Students are requested to wear scrubs for this workshop. Mon., 12 - 5 pm

Neurology Exam Procedures
Come and learn about procedures commonly preformed in a neurology office. Learn the proper technique for lumbar punctures for diagnostic purposes and for therapeutic relief. Learn how to do successful trigger point and occipital nerve blocks. Learn about refilling intrathecal medication delivery pumps. Avoid the common mistakes people make with the neurology exam. Wed, 7 - 9 am

Nightshift in the ED: Radiology
Select cases of actual patients presenting to the ED will be presented. There will be cases presented with the patient´s chief complaint and the attendees will discuss decisions on patient interview, physical examination, and appropriate studies/tests. Radiology films will be presented both in PowerPoint and actual films in order for the attendees to make appropriate diagnosis and treatment decisions. The variety of cases will include orthopedic injuries, trauma to the chest and pelvis, wounds with the possibility of retained foreign body, etc. This is your opportunity to "practice" evaluating those patients that present to the ED with potential medico-legal pitfalls. Thurs., 7 – 9 am

Orthopedic Exam for the Primary Care Practitioner: Knee & Ankle
This workshop will present a quick reference guide to the neuromusculoskeletal evaluation for some common conditions encountered in the clinic. The workshop will provide a framework for a basic evaluation of the knee and ankle. Tues., 7 – 9 am

Orthopedic Exam for the Primary Care Practitioner: Shoulder & Elbow
"Doc, my shoulder (or elbow) hurts". Come and learn basic and advanced physical exam skills of the shoulder and elbow. An experienced orthopedic PA will guide you through the examination of the upper extremity in a hands-on workshop that correlates physical exam findings with radiographic and clinical scenarios. Tues., 10 am – 12 pm

Pediatric Advanced Life Support
Improve the odds! Take advantage of this tremendous opportunity to save lives. This course will cover the skills and didactic information needed to recognize infants and children at risk for cardiac arrest, prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children, resuscitate and stabilize infants and children in respiratory failure, shock, or cardiopulmonary arrest. Participants who successfully complete this workshop will receive their PALS course completion card. Tues., 1:45 - 5:45 pm

Procedural Potpourri In Acute Care: Basic
All those little procedures you wish you knew how to do! Literally from head to toe, this lecture workshop will give you an opportunity to learn the correct and most efficient methods to use in minor procedures encountered in acute care. Response and requests from previous conferences have resulted in expansion of the procedural potpourri workshop. This workshop is the first in a series of two. Detailed lecture and hands-on practice of various procedures in acute and emergency care will be offered. This first workshop offers fish hook removal, ingrown toenail procedures, abscess drainage, and other various minor procedures. Wed., 1:30 – 3:30 pm

Procedural Potpourri In Acute Care: Advanced
Expanding on our ever popular procedural potpourri workshop, we are pleased to offer MORE procedures than ever before. This workshop is the second in a series of two. Detailed lecture and hands-on practice of various procedures in acute and emergency care will be offered. This advanced workshop will include nerve blocks, interosseous IVs, more abscess PEARLS, and other various minor procedures with individual instruction so that everyone has an opportunity to meet their goals. Wed., 3:45 – 5:45 pm

Suturing Techniques: Basic
Attend this always popular lecture workshop, and learn basic wound care and tetanus prophylaxis. Learn correct techniques for two useful suture techniques and for the use of skin adhesives. Typically a custom tailored workshop to attendees´ skill level and needs. Tues., 7 - 9 am and 10 am - 12 pm

Suturing Techniques: Advanced
This workshop will provide demonstration and hands-on practice for the care of wounds in the acute care setting. Beveled flaps, defect repair, stellate wounds, vertical and horizontal mattress suturing techniques will be discussed. Unique method for treating dog-ear will be discussed. There will be no review of anesthesia, wound prep or basic suturing in this workshop. Tue., 1:45 – 3:45 pm
