Conference Planning Coordinates and plans all activities concerning medical education, meals and events for the annual beach conference.
Diversity Promotes diversity in GAPA by coordinating efforts for more involvement by all Georgia PAs.
Finance Responsible for monitoring association finances and developing an annual operating budget.
Judicial Affairs Maintains GAPA Policy & Procedures manual by reviewing and maintaining awareness of bylaws and policies. Advises the Board on areas requiring policy development and revises current policy.
Legislative & Governmental Affairs (LGA) Monitors legislature and works with the GAPA legislative consultant. Maintains communication with the Board and general membership via reports, newsletter articles, and web updates. Assists the regional contact liaison network as appropriate by attending regional meetings. Monitors Physician Assistant Advisory Committee (PAAC) of the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners.
Membership Develops and conducts the annual membership drives and recommends changes in member benefits to GAPA Board for consideration.
Political Action Committee The PAC is GAPA's direct link/relationship between political action and legislative advocacy. The committee provides PAs who are members of GAPA with direct access to key legislators who make state health care policies.
Professional Liaison Provides ongoing communications between GAPA leadership and GAPA representatives serving in liaison positions with other healthcare organizations working closely with the Legislative Affairs committee.
Public Education Develops activities and materials to educate the public and other members of the health care sector about the physician assistant profession and its current statistics.
Publications Edits and produces the quarterly GAPA News newsletter, including writing articles and setting advertising policies.
Regional Contact Liaison (RCL) Coordinates and facilitates communication between GAPA leadership and Georgia PAs in local regions by organizing regular local meetings to discuss local and statewide issues.
Reimbursement Works closely with the Legislative Affairs committee to monitor national and state third party reimbursement regulations and policies in order to keep an updated GAPA Reimbursement Manual. Provides advice to the GAPA Board about policies to pursue regarding reimbursement issues.
Student Affairs Promotes student involvement in GAPA and acts as liaison between GAPA and Georgia’s three PA Programs.
Technology Coordinates development of the GAPA website and maintains regular updates to the web pages.
Wellness Committee Responsible for gathering and maintaining up-to-date information on medical treatments, referral institutions, and legal implications impaired practitioners. Shall work with impaired PAs in an appropriate and confidential manner.
