From the President
7/24/07
It is a deep honor to have been elected GAPA president and to succeed Jeff Chambers. I come with great enthusiasm for GAPA and optimism about its future. GAPA is a distinguished and distinctive association of outstanding quality. Its traditional emphasis on both improving the profession and its members has remained consistently strong and influential over the past 32 years. Even though we can say that we have made some progress in some areas, we can never be complacent. Our struggle continues because there is always a new issue confronting us and the ongoing need for reinforcement and maintenance for sustainability of our accomplishments. Thus, when I think about the GAPA leadership, one phrase keeps repeating itself: "Small in size does not mean small in vision." Our job is to help our members find and pursue their professional careers, recognizing that individuals have a myriad of interests within and outside the office. We are small enough to give our members personal attention yet we also think broadly enough to help our members adapt to the evolving workplace of this century.
I invite you to visit our website and to see the many wonderful ways in which we foster PA growth. Most importantly, take the time to meet and talk with the leadership of our association. You will enjoy getting to know them; they are what make GAPA unique. As Leaders of GAPA we represent the membership and it is an honor to serve them and the organization. Most importantly through GAPA we have a stronger voice and can advocate for all individuals who can benefit by our services. We are here and together with confidence, we will strengthen GAPA and the PA profession.
Regards,
Ben Taylor, PhD, PA-C
